Flintstones Weekend Comics, October 1970

Fred Flintstone, mighty hunter and golfer. Those are two of the subjects of the Flintstones’ weekend comics this month in 1970.

Pops makes appearances in the first two comics. No Betty. No Dino. The second comic has a lovely frustrated creature mounted on the wall in the last panel. And the last comic has a real Stone Age concept where you dial a phone for the correct time.

The colour versions are courtesy of Richard Holliss and his collection.

  1. Yowp-Yowp,

The Flintstones Sunday pages (drawn by the legendary Gene Hazelton) shown on this topic are from September (and not October) 1970.
    Please, fix the title.

  2. I like Wilma's sleepy eyes in the third panel of the last comic.

    1. If you like that, check out the scene in "The Man Called Flintstone" where Wilma wakes up in the hotel room. There is a close up shot of her eyes, nicely animated.

  3. I meant about DIAL-UP (as opposed to push-button) phoning.

    1. A small curiosity: in the USA, the phone number for the correct time is 807.
Here in Brazil the phone number for the correct time is 130.

  4. The April 6, 2014 Zits comic strip had an episode where the Mres. Duncan shows her son Jeremy and his friend Sara Toomey a non-digital camera and is depicted as Wilma Flintstone in the next-to-last panel
