I see a lot of the later MGM work, too in this and also agree with the other comments...the first title, with the words Mula Mula (aluminum spelt backwards) shows that they almost were trying to do a witty show, as Mula Mula is what Bullwinkle or Beany would just as easily used for a locale. :)SC Pokeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15936757752447320636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403931334822730200.post-49753571734910939722015-11-02T04:33:07.850-08:002015-11-02T04:33:07.850-08:00I really love the old cartoons, great post!I really love the old cartoons, great post!Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12692170857496442623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403931334822730200.post-72044625336343978052015-11-01T16:07:12.323-08:002015-11-01T16:07:12.323-08:00It IS a really enjoyable show! Tiger, who'd be the prototype personality for Bullwinkle J. Moose). But the character designs here help, as they're coming off the types that worked for Bill and Joe in the MGM CinemaScope cartoons, and would later be put to better use in the early Huck, Yogi and Quick Draw series.J Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15175515543694122729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403931334822730200.post-67212168071563888462015-10-31T22:21:43.394-07:002015-10-31T22:21:43.394-07:00Yeah, David, I think you're right. I especially like his drawings of the crocodiles.

As far as this show ever being released on home video, never say never. After all, Warners didn't release the 1966 Batman live-action TV show on DVD until last year -- and that show is one of the most iconic incarnations of the Caped Crusader! To this day, the theme song for that show is the music most people associate with Batman. Unfortunately, there's no way Ruff and Reddy will ever get a mainstream release, but with Warner Archive anything's possible.

Actually, due to the Ruff and Reddy comic book story you posted a few months ago and now to this post I'm starting to get seriously interested in seeing more of Ruff and Reddy. It seems pretty good and enjoyable, for a show aimed squarely at kids...Sérgio Gonçalves https://www.blogger.com/profile/06629564277385996362noreply@blogger.com
