He's not identified by name, he's in an abstract situation, and he even points out the unlikelihood of a bear wearing a hat and tie (which were never mentioned again). And after all, cartoons are not necessarily released in the order that they were produced. "The Yogi Bear Show" always showed this one first.mergendeilernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403931334822730200.post-47730040887848879662009-08-30T12:25:13.975-07:002009-08-30T12:25:13.975-07:00The only disappointment with the dying scene here ...The only disappointment with the dying scene here is it's really all Daws. Yogi is just up against a tree yelling. I like Carlo's dying scene better in Daffy Daddy because we get a couple of nice poses (though it's a shame the limited animation still hurts it).
As for McKimson, it's been so long since I've seen the cartoon mentioned, but the 60s stuff is stiff with jokes that saw better days. Bugs was great when he did unexpected things. By the '60s, we can see the gags coming. In the HB cartoons, you never really know where the plot will go, which is a big plus.Yowphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09264605351878574044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403931334822730200.post-353689221555853022009-08-29T23:33:11.798-07:002009-08-29T23:33:11.798-07:00This is a favorite. Daws was up to his high standards of the time as Yogi, and Don lent tons of charm to lines like, "But I'm a hunter and you are -- you should pardon the expression -- a beast."

The "dying Yogi" scene is far more entertaining than the more complex animation of a ketchup-splattered Bugs Bunny wailing, "Agony!" under Bob McKimson's direction in "Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare."Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17446855706531749726noreply@blogger.com
